Dynamic Security Policy

This patent, issued in September 2015, applies to Centripetal Networks’ network protection system for enforcing threat intelligence policies.

Dynamic Security Policy operationalizes threat intelligence provided by an ecosystem of cybersecurity companies that observe internet behavior and collect information on cybercriminals and their methods of attack.

Centripetal alleged Cisco violated that patent in its Catalyst 9000 series switches, as well as the ASR 1000 and ISR Router 1000 and 4000 routers, enabled by Cisco’s Digital Network Architecture—the management structure that allows the system to use threat intelligence.

Of the five patents invoked by Centripetal, Dynamic Security Policy was the only one the federal judge found Cisco did not violate.
