Number Of Records Exposed: 2 Million

Hackers stole the personal information of around two million T-Mobile customers in an August data breach, who were alerted to the issue with text message notifications.

T-Mobile said hackers accessed the names, billing zip codes, phone numbers, email addresses, account numbers and the account types of some customers in the breach. Financial data, credit card information, and social security numbers were not compromised in the breach, according to the company.

A spokesperson for T-Mobile said the breach impacted “slightly less than” 3 percent of the company’s 77 million customers. While T-Mobile said passwords to these accounts were not compromised, the company indicated that “it’s always a good idea to regularly change account passwords.”
