Seeing The Bigger Picture

Solution providers should keep an eye out for more unified data loss prevention capabilities and threat insight that can be customized to address the specifics of a customer's environment, according to Chris Young, McAfee's CEO.

Young told the more than 3,000 attendees at the MPower 2018 Cybersecurity Summit in Las Vegas Wednesday that attacks today often have one foot in the cloud and another on the device or endpoint, meaning that organizations must have a cybersecurity strategy in place that offers protection to both.

Customers often lack the time or expertise to manage McAfee's new offerings in the CASB (cloud access security broker) and EDR (endpoint detection and response) space on their own, Young said. As a result, Young said they're increasingly turning to the channel for help with everything from incident response and security forensics to triaging threats and migrating users and accounts to the cloud.

Here's a look at what Young said to attendees and members of the media about why McAfee is doubling down on data loss prevention, the customer's need for more actionable threat insight, and how partners can make money off managed EDR and managed CASB.
