Dell is overtaking Hewlett Packard Enterprise as the worldwide market leader for enterprise storage sales, according to new second quarter 2018 data from research firm IDC.

Total worldwide storage revenue jumped from $10.9 billion to $13.2 billion in the second quarter 2018, representing a 21.3 percent increase year over year. Global external storage sales reached $6.1 billion, up 14.4 percent compared to the same quarter one year ago.
