Dollar Share: 54.5%
Hyper-converged pioneer Nutanix easily took home first place with a massive dollar share of 54.5 percent. The San Jose, Calif.-based company generated nearly $70 million in HCI sales in the second quarter, down 31 percent year over year. Nutanix had previously won 70 percent dollar share in the second quarter 2018.
Nutanix has nearly completed its transition from hardware and software sales to software and subscription billing. For the company’s fourth fiscal quarter 2019, which ended July 31, Nutanix reported revenue of $300 million, down 1.3 percent year over year. Software and support revenue for the quarter reached $287 million, an increase of 7 percent from last year’s $268 million. For the entire fiscal year 2019, Nutanix generated revenue of $1.24 billion, representing flat sales year over year which was mainly attributed the company’s planned reduction in hardware sales.
