Last week there were published reports, including in a Tel Aviv, Isreal-based financial newspaper, that CA and Oblicore had signed a $25 million purchase agreement. In Monday's announcement CA said it would not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Oblicore, founded in 2000, develops software used to improve access to applications running on remote servers. Such technology is critical for businesses as they adopt cloud computing and rely more on information technology resources that reside outside their data centers.

"Oblicore supports and strengthens CA's ability to set, measure and optimize service levels to meet business expectations across enterprise and cloud environments," CA said in a statement. The acquisition also "extends CA's capabilities in cloud vendor management and assurance of cloud service quality," CA said.

Oblicore already works with a number of CA products including CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager, CA Service Desk Manager, CA Wily Introscope, CA eHealth and CA Clarity PPM, the vendor said.

Oblicore customers include AT&T, ABN AMRO, British Telecom, Lufthansa Systems and Siemens Medical Solutions.

In September, CA acquired NetQoS, a supplier of network performance management and service delivery software for $200 million. And in June CA bought for an undisclosed sum the technology assets of Cassatt, including software that helps businesses operate data centers like cloud computing "compute utilities."
