The Work-Life Formula For Success

Nobody is truly prepared when tragedy strikes. In an inspiring and vulnerable keynote at 2024’s Women of the Channel East event, Ami Tank from Fortinet shared how overcoming incredible loss has resulted in some powerful changes to her life philosophy.

In her early 30s, she led a seemingly successful life in the Bay Area with an MBA, a great job, a marriage and two children. However, a routine doctor's visit revealed stage four non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, with a prognosis of two months to live. Intensive chemotherapy was her only option, and the rest of her life seemed to spiral out of control.

Reflecting on her life, she moved back to Michigan to be with family. With a miraculous off-label drug providing a second chance at life, Ami has been blessed to experience her children graduating and a rejuvenated career with friends and family.

Ami emphasized the importance of pausing to reflect, dropping perfection and focusing on the 20-80 rule, doing the 20 percent of things that yield 80 percent of desired outcomes. Through her adversity, she has found ways to break free from societal shackles and prioritize her physical and mental health.
