CyberPower And SHI: Solving Power Problems Through Partnership

The growing demand for dependable power protection is driving businesses to seek more advanced monitoring capabilities and flexible backup solutions.

In response to this need, CyberPower, working with channel reseller SHI, recently delivered a customized hardware and software power protection solution for a national dental services provider with more than 1,000 locations.

“We listen to our customers’ needs when developing our hardware,” said Tim Derochie, director of Applications Engineering at CyberPower. “We also use that same approach for our software development.”

The project began in 2022 when SHI approached CyberPower to design a solution that combined robust power protection with cloud-based monitoring. The chosen hardware, CyberPower’s CP1500PFCLCD UPS with an integrated Cloud Card, offered sine wave power, a 1500 VA capacity and a compact footprint, ideal for dental offices where space is at a premium.

With the Cloud Card installed, the UPS integrates seamlessly with PowerPanel Cloud, providing remote monitoring and management. However, the client needed more advanced features, including single sign-on, multi-level permissions and flexible licensing beyond 200 nodes.

“My team collaborated with SHI to understand their wish list,” Derochie explained. “CyberPower saw this as an opportunity to not only address the needs of our partner and their customer but create a new product with features that were in demand from other customers.”

The result was PowerPanel Cloud Pro, launched in 2025. It introduced pay-as-you-go licensing for up to 10,000 nodes, Azure-based single sign-on, advanced hierarchy for grouping UPS systems and enhanced admin/user rights, ideal for managed service providers overseeing multiple clients.

CyberPower supported the rollout with training, troubleshooting and tech support, ensuring smooth deployment across all locations.
