In an exclusive interview with CRNtv, Tyler Coughlan, vice president and chief country executive, Canada, Ingram Micro, shared insights on leading change and helping partners thrive in a rapidly evolving market.
Coughlan explained that the conversation around digital transformation has shifted dramatically. “You no longer really need to sell the ‘why’ when it comes to digital transformation,” he said. “Everybody realizes that if we’re standing still, you’re actually being left behind.”
He noted that while change can create anxiety, Ingram Micro’s experience shows that transformation brings tangible benefits. “We’re making our organization more productive,” Coughlan said. “We’re moving less from a transactional organization and making sure that we are way more proactive than we’ve ever been. We’re giving back the gift of time, which allows us to have more meaningful conversations with our partners.”
For managed service providers (MSPs), mindset and partnerships are key differentiators. “Some of the most successful organizations believe in the power of partnerships,” Coughlan said. “They don’t need to make all of the investments to be good at everything. They’re leaning on partnerships and on the investments we’ve made over the years to allow them to enter into different markets while keeping operational costs low.”
Coughlan also highlighted a shift away from traditional hardware-only transactions. “You need to wrap services around there, wrap security around there and understand real business outcomes associated with AI,” he said.
When it comes to leveraging Ingram Micro’s Advantage platform, Coughlan pointed to data-driven insights as a game changer. “One of the biggest positive consequences is understanding the insights and analytics available to you,” he said. “If you’re not managing your assets, you’re not managing your business and we’ve got the tools and functionality to do that in a single pane of glass.”
