Galactic Advisors’ Bruce McCully Warns MSPs: “Statistically, Someone In This Room Is Next”

Galactic Advisors did not shy away from the gravity of the cybersecurity threats facing MSPs at XChange NexGen 2025. Bruce McCully, chief security officer at Galactic Advisors, was frank with the audience. “I'm here to tell you that we have a big problem, and I'm going to spend a couple of minutes scaring the hell out of you,” he said. Lawsuits are becoming a common consequence of ransomware events, with McCully citing that “one in five ransomware events ends in a lawsuit.”

But the keynote wasn’t just a warning, but a call to action. McCully outlined a three-step strategy for MSPs to turn risk into opportunity: educate, reframe and operationalize. He introduced a patented process that allows MSPs to assess client security with a simple link click, followed by a consultative review. “You have new high margin revenue, and everyone's happily ever after,” he said.

McCully emphasized differentiation in a crowded market: “Everyone is showing up talking about ransomware and regulators and the boogeyman…it leads to lower prices, lower margins, lower close rates.” Instead, he urged MSPs to “illustrate the risk” and “put it into a story.”
