Help Customers Keep Pace With AI-Powered Vulnerability Discovery
Every minute between a vulnerability disclosure and a patch deployment is an opportunity for attackers. As AI-powered threats accelerate that race, solution providers have an opportunity to help customers reduce exposure and modernize aging infrastructure. According to Doug Dorta from Broadcom and Arnaud Gandibleux from Pellera, a Broadcom Expert Advantage services partner, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 is emerging as a key part of that conversation.
Security Teams Are Falling Behind
Sydney Neely: Arnaud, why are frontier AI model attacks creating new infrastructure security concerns for organizations? What are you hearing from customers?
Arnaud Gandibleux: We hear very often from our customers that their security teams are just falling behind. They have a hard time keeping up with how fast the landscape is evolving. AI-powered attacks scan and chain vulnerabilities together at a speed that's hard to match with manual processes, even for fully staffed teams.
What helps is keeping up with the speed of patching and automating processes. Customers are asking for centralized patching environments, centralized certificate and password management, and an easier way to secure workloads across multiple environments. They also want one integrated view that brings together performance, alerts, security events and patch availability instead of juggling multiple tools.
Why Automated Patching Matters
Sydney Neely: The right platform is essential to ensuring infrastructure is frontier AI-ready and shortening vulnerability exposure. Doug, how does VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1 address this challenge?
Doug Dorta: VCF 9.1 has been redesigned. We've put a lot of effort into hardening the hypervisor, centralizing audit capabilities for rapid forensics, enabling data encryption in motion and at rest, and providing fleet-level single sign-on, password and certificate control.
But the most important feature is automated patching. Most vulnerabilities arise when patching isn't applied properly or in time. With automated patching, we're decreasing the interval between the disclosure of a vulnerability and the potential exploitation by an AI cybersecurity threat. Together, these capabilities increase the level of security organizations can achieve in their private cloud environments.
The Biggest Partner Opportunity
Sydney Neely: What kind of services are partners building around VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1 to help customers navigate the widespread use of frontier AI?
Doug Dorta: We work with partners on a variety of services. Some are security-focused, particularly around lateral security within virtual machines through V-Defend. But the primary service opportunity today is helping customers get to 9.1 because these capabilities are available only in 9.1.
We have many customers still running older versions, and they need to move to 9.1 to take advantage of these new capabilities. From there, partners can continue building additional services that help customers protect and manage their platforms over time.
Helping Customers Get More From Existing Infrastructure
Sydney Neely: Arnaud, can you share some of the results you've seen bringing VCF 9.1 to your customers?
Arnaud Gandibleux: As a Broadcom Expert Advantage partner, we're already working with customers to address AI security threats and demonstrate the value of VCF 9.1 through customer experience days. During those sessions, we spend a half day or full day with customers in a lab environment, demonstrating migration to 9.1 and showcasing the value of VCF, V-Defend, automation and Kubernetes working together.
The biggest result we're seeing is that customers get more value out of infrastructure they already have while strengthening and protecting their environments. As Doug mentioned, customers need to be on 9.1 to achieve stronger security, faster patching and less downtime while getting ahead of AI-driven threats. That's exactly where we're helping them go.
