How Fortinet Secures The Modern Workspace

Email remains a primary target for cyberattacks, but it is no longer the only one. As work increasingly spans web browsers, collaboration platforms and cloud storage tools, partners are being asked to help customers secure a much broader and more complex workspace.

In response, Fortinet has expanded its FortiMail portfolio into FortiMail Email and Workspace Security, extending protection beyond email to reflect how work actually gets done today.

“You combine that with 60 percent of breaches involving the human element, and you’ve got an organization that can be very vulnerable to a lot of these threats and risks,” said Maristelle Bagis Hosaka, director of product marketing at Fortinet.

Attackers are also becoming more sophisticated, using artificial intelligence, social engineering and impersonation to craft messages that appear personal and credible.

“And now attackers are using AI, social engineering and impersonation to create emails that feel personal and more trustworthy, allowing users to really engage more,” Hosaka said. “And this makes phishing that much harder for traditional security solutions to detect.”

For partners, the challenge extends well beyond inboxes. Customers operate across SaaS applications accessed through browsers, collaboration platforms such as Teams and Slack, and cloud storage services used to share files and links.

“When you think about where work happens in a typical day, users will not only access their email, but they’ll also access web browsers to log into SaaS applications,” Hosaka said. “And they may even share files using links that are connected to files that are in cloud storage apps like OneDrive or Google Drive.”

To address that expanded attack surface, FortiMail Email and Workspace Security extends protection beyond email to include collaboration tools and web browsers.

“What FortiMail email and workspace security also does is it extends protection beyond email to include collaboration tools as well as web browsers,” Hosaka said.

As customers reassess security priorities, Fortinet’s approach gives partners a clearer way to address modern workspace risk with layered protection.
