How MSPs Future-Proof Backup Strategies For Modern Threats
The evolution of the channel from break-fix providers to MSPs and MSSPs has fundamentally changed what partners need from their backup platforms.
Kelly Fyffe, community and channel manager at Slide, said ransomware, compliance demands and cyber insurance requirements continue to increase, which has made add-on security services an outdated approach.
“It doesn’t matter what your business model is; you have to be security-first to survive,” Fyffe said in her keynote Future-Proofing Backup For The Modern MSP at XChange August. Pressure is growing for providers to deliver backup solutions that keep client environments up and running.
Pressure is even greater for providers serving industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, legal and finance, because brief outages can have significant business consequences. Customer backup expectations have changed dramatically and have made recovery speed and business resilience critical differentiators for modern MSPs.
"Backup used to be a luxury,” Fyffe explained. “Versus now [when] BCDR is a necessity for businesses to thrive today."
Fyffe challenged partners to evaluate whether legacy backup technologies are keeping pace with modern threat landscapes and AI-driven operations.
