Infinidat’s Cyber Triple Play For Channel Partners

As ransomware attacks continue to rise, with 66 percent of organizations affected in the past year, cybersecurity has become a top priority for CEOs. This October, in recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, it’s the perfect time to highlight how companies are enhancing their defenses against these growing risks. Infinidat, a leader in data storage and cybersecurity solutions, is playing a key role in helping organizations protect their critical data.

CRNtv host Sydney Neely speaks with Eric Herzog from Infinidat about how the company is addressing today’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges. Herzog shares insights into the company’s innovative strategies for protecting businesses against modern cyber threats with smarter, more resilient solutions.

Sydney: Cybersecurity is on everyone’s mind, especially with attacks like ransomware making headlines. How is Infinidat working with channel partners to address these threats?

Eric: We embedded InfiniSafe, our cyber storage resilience and technology software, inside our storage solutions. Partners can leverage that to deliver and work with their cybersecurity practices, putting storage and cybersecurity together. This offers a solution that (A) delivers real business and technical value to their end users, and (B) allows partners to increase margins and revenue by combining both storage and cybersecurity to work together for their end users.

Sydney: We’ve been hearing a lot about cybersecurity and cyber storage resilience coming together. Can you explain why this combination is so crucial and what partners need to know to stay ahead?

Eric: When you look at the threat window, the global exposure for enterprises—not you or me as homeowners or home users—amounts to $9.5 trillion. It’s a huge threat. In the latest Fortune 500 survey, CEOs rated cybersecurity as the No. 2 concern. For the previous three years, it was the No. 1 concern before the economic travails. It’s a critical issue facing the leadership of their enterprise end users that our partners deal with.

Sydney: Let’s talk about data protection for a minute. How is Infinidat pushing the envelope when it comes to next-gen data protection?

Eric: Next-gen data protection includes traditional elements like backup repositories, snapshots and data replication. But the next generation includes cyber storage resilience and cyber storage recovery. We recently held a webinar where we recovered 20 petabytes of a Veeam backup repository in 13 minutes. Veeam can't even do it, on their website they say about a day. For primary storage, we recovered two petabytes in three seconds, so we are providing that recovery trajectory.

If there’s an attack, CEOs and CFOs want to know how quickly they can recover, and it’s a huge issue. Publicly traded companies in the U.S. and Europe must file legal documentation if they’ve had an attack. The most recent major example in the U.S. was UnitedHealth Group, which reported a $2.9 billion cost due to an attack. Partners can really help out their end users because 2.9 billion is a very large, unplanned expense.

Sydney: Cyber resilience is all about bouncing back after an attack. How does Infinidat’s innovation in cyber storage resilience create opportunities for partners to grow their business and serve their enterprise customers better?

Eric: The key is combining enterprise cyber storage resilience and recovery with data center-wide cybersecurity technology. For example, with our automated cyber protection part of InfiniSafe, we integrate with SIEM and SOAR cybersecurity software packages, or with a customer’s security operations center, if they have one. This brings together security and storage.

First, you’re closing a window. In the security world, it’s all about reducing the threat window because the most important data hub for enterprise customers is sitting on their storage. If you don’t protect that, it’s like going on vacation and leaving every door and window wide open, and then posting on social media, “Hey, I’m on vacation for three weeks—come steal my stuff!” That’s what happens if you don’t integrate enterprise cyber storage with cybersecurity. By doing this, partners gain better margins and revenue opportunities, and most importantly, they become trusted advisors by ensuring there are no gaps in their customers’ cybersecurity strategies.
