Modernizing IT From Endpoint To Data Center With Dell And AMD

Partners are moving past legacy IT as customers push to build infrastructure that can support AI from the endpoint to the data center. At Dell Technologies World, CRNtv host Kena Johnson spoke with Jason Mooneyham, Corporate Vice President, Global Commercial Channel and North America Channel Chief, AMD, and Alan Ashby, Sr. Director, Americas Channel Data Center Specialty Sales & Presales, Dell Technologies, about how their partnership is helping solution providers modernize environments and deliver AI-ready outcomes at scale.

Kena Johnson: AI is everywhere right now. How are AMD and Dell enabling AI infrastructure across the stack?

Jason Mooneyham: We see four major opportunities together with Dell. Three are in the data center and one is on the client side. In the data center, large language models are driving demand for AMD CPUs paired with our GPU solutions in Dell systems. That combination is very strong today. There is also the ongoing data center modernization and consolidation work, which has been a core part of our partnership from the start. Then there is the expanding opportunity around AI workloads, including smaller and in-house models, where AMD CPUs in the Dell stack really shine. The fourth area is AI on the client side. As models move closer to the user, AI PCs powered by our latest Ryzen processors in Dell systems are a practical way to start.

Kena: Johnson: What’s driving the data center modernization and refresh conversations we’re hearing about so much today?

Jason Mooneyham: Space and power are the biggest drivers. When we can show partners and customers that they can consolidate close to seven to one by replacing four- or five-year-old servers with current platforms, that drives real interest. With rising costs in memory and storage, consolidation becomes even more compelling. Reducing footprint while increasing performance is a strong story that Dell and AMD can deliver together.

Kena Johnson: From a supply chain perspective, what are you doing to help partners manage availability right now?

Alan Ashby: Supply chain is a major focus, but Dell has a long history of delivering through shortages. The key for partners is working closely with Dell and AMD teams early. That means forecasting opportunities, planning from pursuit through delivery, and staying aligned on timelines. That collaboration helps ensure we deliver the expected outcomes for customers when they need them.
