Roopi Crowley Champions Authenticity And Brand-Building
At Women of the Channel East 2025, Roopi Crowley, managing director of Strategic Accounts for Retail & Energy at T-Mobile, delivered an inspiring message on resilience, reinvention and leadership offering practical advice for women navigating the IT channel and solution provider ecosystem.
Crowley began by sharing personal lessons that shaped her career trajectory. “You need to stand on your own two feet. Never rely on your spouse,” she recalled her mother saying—a mantra that guided her through decades of professional challenges. Her father’s advice to “join women’s organizations” also proved pivotal when her 25-year career in retail was turned upside after her position was eliminated during the pandemic.
“Lesson number one, don’t be complacent. Build your brand, internal and external,” she said. With no resume or LinkedIn profile, Crowley rebuilt her professional identity from scratch by networking relentlessly and embracing new opportunities.
That persistence led her to T-Mobile, where she pivoted into telecom despite having no prior experience. “Just because you’re in a role doesn’t mean that’s the role. You can build your role to whatever you want it to be,” she explained. Within 18 months, Crowley advanced to director, a feat she attributes to authenticity and hard work. “Who you are, what you believe in, and how you push for what is right for yourself, for the company, for the people who work for you, that’s important.”
Crowley’s insights underscore the importance of adaptability and relationship-building in today’s competitive channel. She stressed the need for mentors, sponsors and advocates: “When you’re not there, they should be talking about you. When there’s a role coming in, your champion should be there for you.”
Her closing advice was clear: “Own the conversation. You have a right to have a seat at the table, and your voice should be heard.” In an industry still dominated by men, Crowley urged women to embrace their superpowers, build networks inside and outside their organizations and never shy away from authenticity.
