Safeguarding The Cloud: Automated Defense At Scale With ThreatER
As cyberattacks grow smarter, faster and harder to stop, businesses and managed service providers (MSPs) face mounting pressure to stay ahead of emerging threats. Particularly in cloud environments, vulnerabilities are increasingly exploited. ThreatER is stepping up with advanced automated defenses and scalable threat intelligence to help businesses and partners safeguard their operations.
CRNtv host Sydney Neely spoke with Brian McMahon and Shayna Jackson from ThreatER to explore how their solutions are transforming the way MSPs protect their clients.
Segment 1: Understanding Cloud Security Threats
Sydney: Cloud vulnerabilities and firewall weaknesses seem to be common targets for attackers. Brian, what are some of the biggest vulnerabilities businesses should be aware of?
Brian: There are two things we would call out. The first is that there’s a general perception in the industry that cloud attacks only happen on ports 80 and 443.
Well, that’s simply not the case. We have tons of demonstrable data to prove that cloud attacks occur far beyond ports 80 and 443. There are a lot of things you can do to defend against these broader threats.
The second is the misperception around the role of the firewall. Many people assume their firewall protects their attack surface, but they forget that the firewall itself is part of the attack surface.
Segment 2: Unlocking the Power of Threat Intelligence at Scale
Sydney: What sets ThreatER’s approach to threat intelligence apart from other cybersecurity platforms?
Brian: There are a few things. First, we keep it simple. While there’s sophistication in our network, we streamline complex rules at the point of enforcement. Essentially, we ask one question: Are you on the list or not? This simplicity enables us to operate at a scale others can’t match, with no added latency.
In fact, our platform can improve overall latency because we block malicious traffic more efficiently.
We also tackle the false positive problem. A lot of organizations hesitate to use threat intelligence due to bad experiences with false positives. We work to resolve that by providing data that helps customers understand why a block exists and giving them an easy option to override it if needed.
Segment 3: Empowering MSPs Through the ThreatER Partner Program
Sydney: Scalability is a big deal for MSPs. How does ThreatER’s API access and scalability help them better protect their clients?
Shayna: ThreatER is simple to use, vendor-agnostic and highly effective at reducing exposure to known cyberattack sources.
Our platform scales better than competitors, allowing MSPs to operationalize threat intelligence at scale without adding latency. We’ve designed it with MSPs in mind, using a parent-child architecture that enables managing individual clients or groups seamlessly.
Our robust APIs also make integration easy. MSPs can tailor the platform to their preferences, ensuring they get the most out of our system.
