Smarter Security, Seamless Access: Highlights From Fortinet’s SASE Summit
Human error was a factor in 90 percent of data breaches last year, according to industry reports. As IT teams manage more users, applications and devices than ever before, Fortinet is introducing new tools to help partners and end users reduce risk and improve efficiency.
At its recent SASE Summit, Fortinet debuted two solutions designed to simplify troubleshooting and secure access without disrupting performance.
The first, FortiAI Assist, is a generative AI assistant that works across Fortinet’s security fabric and unified SASE platform. “FortiAI Assist is a GenAI assistant available across the Fortinet fabric and in unified SASE that enables simplified and accelerated troubleshooting across the network, error-free configuration and provisioning, and diagnostics for proactive monitoring,” said Alexandra Mehat, director of product marketing at Fortinet.
The second innovation is a browser plugin that adds security directly into the browsers employees already use. This approach eliminates the need for a full enterprise browser or additional software, making it easier to deploy across personal and unmanaged devices.
“Browser plugins are easier to implement with lower barrier to entry than a full enterprise browser,” Mehat said. “So along with ease of deployment across any user leveraging their own device, BYOD, controls can be enforced with DLP, for example, right at the browser level, therefore ensuring that data doesn’t even leave the device.”
The plugin also includes built-in controls for generative AI, downloads and extensions, giving organizations visibility and governance without impacting the user experience. “Security controls are added to access both private as well as SaaS applications to enforce DLP policies with strict controls to deny copy paste, print, download, upload, watermarking, along with controls for GenAI applications,” Mehat said. “Full browser governance can also be enforced across the organization, helping to disable risky browser extensions with full risk assessment details.”
