Security Minute: Working From Home, A Year Later

After more than a year of working remotely and billions of records exposed in data breaches, RSA Security says cybersecurity can no longer be an afterthought. Learn how RSA and SecurID can help you better protect your customers.

The amount of records compromised in 2020 exceeded the amount in 2019 by 141 percent, the most ever exposed in a single year. After a year of working from remote and diversified environments, sharing Wi-Fi access with several other users daily, and working outside of protected networks, RSA says the lesson is clear—cybersecurity can no longer be an afterthought. “It cannot be ignored,” says Murtaza Hafizji, consultant of product marketing at RSA. “It cannot be a capability or a feature or a topic that gets talked about after. It has to be part of the business conversation, because as we hear week in, week out of the different incidents or breaches that are happening, this has to be at a business-level discussion.”

As we move forward into a post-pandemic world, much of the workforce will continue to operate remotely. MSPs have a unique opportunity to help them address the remote access and security needs of their employees, especially as the use of cloud and SaaS applications to store and share data continues to rise. “I think identity and access management is absolutely an important piece for MSPs to be thinking about to be selling to their customers,” says Hafizji. “It’s all about access. Who is accessing? Where are they accessing? Where is the application?”

RSA has the solutions and experience to help you gain visibility into customers’ remote endpoints, monitor networks remotely and offer secure identity and access management with SecurID, an RSA solution backed by 35 years of investment in passwordless authentication. “Another great part of SecurID is being able to offer services. So, not just sell the product and be done with it but provide that advisor-based role to their customer and provide those services to get these solutions implemented and be the strategic advisor to the customer,” says Hafizji.
