20 Hot IT Products From XChange Solution Provider 2011

XChange Solutions Showcase

Dozens of vendors packed the Solutions Showcase at XChange Solution Provider 2011 in Orlando Fla., demonstrating their latest products and services. Cloud computing solutions drew a lot of interest from VARs but there were plenty of hardware products to see too.

Here's a look at some of them:

Samsung Series 9 Notebook

The Series 9 notebook hits the market in May and will be one of the lightest yet powerful PCs available. Just 0.6 inches thick and 2.8 pounds, the Series 9 features a solid state drive and a 13.1-inch screen. Also pictured is the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, available in June. Hewlett-Packard EliteBook 8560p

With the EliteBook 8560p, priced between $1,200 and $1,400, HP hopes to provide a cheaper alternative to the Panasonic Toughbook with the 8560p. This 15.6-inch laptop features "military spec testing and is the most rugged notebook HP offers," according to Dan Kartchner, a notebook product manager with HP.

EMC VNXe

EMC launched the VNXe with a major event in New York City, setting a Guinness Book of World Records mark for squeezing people into a Mini Cooper.

At XChange, the Mini Cooper was back, but it was filled with basketballs. Meanwhile, the company showed off the VNXe, an entry-level storage array, to interested solution providers.

Labtech Software

LabTech's remote monitoring and management solution can accomplish 90 percent of what a technician needs to do without disrupting the end user, said Greg Lalle, regional sales manager for the Tampa-based company. He is pictured at left, with Errin Davis, community manager for LabTech.

Emulex One Connect OCe10102-F Adapter

A 10GbE universal converged network adapter new to the market that will soon become commonplace, according to Howard Lo, director of channel marketing. "There will be an explosion for [10GbE] in the third quarter. This becomes prevalent in data centers," he boasted.

Dell 1350cnw Color LED Printer

Dell showcased this Color LED printer, which lists for $299 and has speeds up to 12 color pages per minute and up to 30,000 pages per month. The company claims it's now the "smallest footprint for color laser," coming in at 15.5" x 11.8" x 8.9".

D-Link Unified Wired/Wireless Access System

D-Link's booth featured its Unified Wireless Access System (top right) among other products. The Unified solution centralizes management that simplifies wireless deployment and enhances access security, wireless throughput and network convergence, according to the company.

Zenith Infotech Mirror Cloud

Mirror Cloud is a next-generation business continuity product that allows you to mirror any Windows server or desktop and have it up and running within minutes, said Maurice Saluan, senior vice president of sales (right). At left is Steven Malone, technical training manager for managed services and business continuity.

AutoVirt

AutoVirt is a data mobility solution that provides access to your NAS devices and Windows file servers by building a global namespace: a service in your network that receives client requests for files and returns the appropriate storage location, according to the company. AutoVirt allows clients to use their and embedded links, even after the files have been moved. "VARs see us as an easy solution to improve their storage offerings. [Users] can move data around storage devices very quickly and efficiently," said Ed Spies, vice president of finance and operations.

Novell Cloud Manager

With cloud a hot topic, Novell was talking up Cloud Manager, which allows administrators to manage an entire cloud environment, including business services, workloads and resources from a mobile app available on the iPhone, according to Scott Lewis, vice president of partner marketing and enablement.

Raritan Dominion PX

The Dominion PX power management is much more than the longest power-strip you've ever seen. The solution includes real-time PDU-level and outlet-level power monitoring, remote outlet-level power switching and rack temperature and humidity monitoring, according to the company.

Veracode Security Review

Veracode's risk management platform allows customers to govern and mitigate software security risk across a single application or an enterprise portfolio, according to Evan Fromberg, senior director of channel sales and business development. "The platform can help businesses understand risk and exploits in their software applications," he said.

Buffalo Technology TeraStation Pro 6 WSS

This Windows Storage Server six-drive RAID-enabled NAS comes in 6-terabyte and 12-terabyte versions and offers USB 3.0 support, according to Brian Verenkoff, director of product marketing.

RIM Blackberry PlayBook

Blackberry showed off its new PlayBook, which features a 7-inch screen, 1 GB of RAM, dual cameras and support for both HTML5 and Flash 10.1, said Mark Amszej, director of product management. It also includes the QNX operating system and BlackBerry Bridge, which allows it to mirror a BlackBerry smartphone.

Fortinet Fortigate-60C

The FortiGate-60C multi-threat security appliance, second device from the top at right, features System-on-a-Chip technology and lets users segment internal traffic and provide full security for perimeter-bound traffic with gigabit firewall throughput combined with switched internal ports and dedicated WAN ports, according to the company.

Microsoft Office 365

Office 365 is "anytime, anywhere for productivity and collaboration workloads," said Sachin Vora, senior marketing manager for U.S. channel marketing at Microsoft. It can help VARs have conversations about moving IT spending from cap-ex to op-ex, he added.

Hexagrid Vx Datacenter

Vx Datacenter is an IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service)-enabling platform that pulls together the power of virtualization, grid computing and security, according to the company. "It lets you set up private clouds for customers or you can build your own multi-tenant private cloud," said Hexagrid's Joe Seibel.

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10

Geared toward SMBs, Backup & Recovery 10 is a disaster recovery solution for physical and virtual environments and dissimilar hardware recovery, said Roger Layton (left), a principal solutions architect with Acronis, who poses in the company's booth at XChange along with Jeremiah Mason, also a principal solutions architect .

Go Grid

Go Grid is an Infrastrucutre-as-a-Service (IaaS) provider that helps solution provides build scalable cloud infrastructure in multiple data centers using dedicated and cloud servers, according to Reid Cooper, senior manager of distribution and channel. "We offer a 35-percent discount to partners with no revenue commitment," he said.

ATEN Technology Panel Array

ATEN's KN family of products offers a panel array that providers more visibility to all target devices, according to the company. Here, Robert Haffner, enterprise product manager (left) details the panel array for Bob Cox, president of Nothing but NET, a Phoenix-based solution provider.
