30 Notable IT Executive Moves: December 2024

Alteryx, GitLab, Check Point, Lumen Technologies, General Datatech and Google were among the tech companies making key executive hires and moves in December 2024.

New CEOs with Alteryx, GitLab and Check Point Software Technologies were among the biggest executive moves as 2024 came to a close.

Taking those top spots, respectively, were Andy MacMillan, formerly with UserTesting; Bill Staples, formerly with New Relic; and Nadav Zafrir, formerly with Team8.

December Tech Executive Moves

Lumen Technologies, General Datatech and Google were among other tech giants to make significant executive moves during the month as companies invested in talent for overseeing sales, technology and partners.

Those executives were:

Economists expect the latest U.S. jobs report for December to show a monthly gain of 155,000 non-farm jobs, down from a surprise 227,000 increase the month before, according to CNBC. The expected December number follows the four-month average. The unemployment rate should be around 4.2 percent.

Nadav Zafrir

Nadav Zafrir’s transition into the CEO role at Check Point Software Technologies finished in December, with Zafrir replacing co-founder Gil Shwed, Check Point’s leader for more than 30 years.

Before becoming CEO of the Israel-based cybersecurity vendor, Zafrir spent 10 years with venture group Team8, according to his LinkedIn account. He co-founded the group and served as managing partner.

At Team8, Zafrir was involved in building 17 cybersecurity companies and served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for 25 years.

According to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs, Check Point is working to increase the overall percentage of company revenue that comes through the channel, improve partner profitability and increase the number of net new accounts coming through partners.

Andy MacMillan

In December, Andy MacMillan started as CEO of Alteryx.

MacMillan came to the Irvine, Calif.-based enterprise analytics and AI platform vendor after about seven years with UserTesting, according to his LinkedIn account. He served as UserTesting’s CEO for about six years.

His resume includes about two years with Act-On Software as CEO, leaving in 2018. He also worked at Salesforce for about three years, leaving in 2015 as chief operating officer of products.

Bill Staples

GitLab hired Bill Staples in December as its new CEO.

Staples joined the San Francisco-based developer security operations (DevSecOps) platform provider after about four years with New Relic, according to his LinkedIn account. He left New Relic as CEO.

His resume includes about three years with Adobe. He left the vendor in 2020 with the title of vice president of Experience Cloud.

Pat Gelsinger

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger departed the company in December, succeeded by two interim co-CEOs: CFO David Zinsner and Client Computing Group General Manager Michelle Johnston Holthaus.

Gelsinger served as the Santa Clara, Calif.-based chipmaker’s CEO for about four years, according to his LinkedIn account. He previously served as VMware’s CEO for about eight years.

His resume includes about 30 years previously with Intel, leaving in 2009. He also served as president and chief operating officer of EMC, leaving in 2012.

According to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs, Intel was working to increase the number of channel partners it works with.

Gabe Gomez

Lumen Technologies brought Gabe Gomez on as the new vice president of its Wholesale Segment operations in December.

Gomez joined the Monroe, La.-based telecommunications vendor after about 15 years with Syringa Networks, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Syringa with the title of VP of wholesale and carrier network solutions. In 2018, Lumen predecessor CenturyLink sold Level 3 metro network assets in the Boise, Idaho, area to Syringa.

Gomex’s resume includes about four years with Integra Telecom. He left the company in 2009 with the title of sales manager.

According to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs, Lumen was working to increase the amount of recurring revenue going through partners.

Rehan Sheikh

Rehan Sheikh joined Google in December, taking on the role of vice president of global silicon chip technology and manufacturing.

Sheikh came to the Mountain View, Calif.-based cloud and AI vendor after about four years with Microsoft, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Microsoft with the title of VP of silicon manufacturing and packaging engineering.

His resume includes about 24 years with Intel. He left the chipmaker in 2021 and, during his tenure there, was responsible for leading silicon engineering and productization as Intel’s chief test and silicon engineering technologist.

Google has more than 100,000 partners worldwide, according to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs.

Gladys Kline

Gladys Kline joined General Datatech in December as vice president of the Cisco alliance.

Kline came to the Dallas-based company – No. 42 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500 – after about a year with Lead Above as CEO, according to her LinkedIn account.

Her resume includes about four years with Cisco and ThousandEyes. She left the company as global director of adoption engineering at ThousandEyes. Cisco bought the network intelligence company in 2020.

Angela Jiang

Angela Jiang joined Kyndryl in December as vice president of Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance.

Jiang came to the New York-based company, No. 9 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about 14 years with PwC, according to her LinkedIn account.

Her resume includes about two years with TriMas, leaving the manufacturer in 2010 with the title of senior internal auditor.

Sara Seegers

Sara Seegers came to GTT in December, taking on the role of channel partner chief and senior vice president of channel and partner program for the Americas.

In this role, she “will lead GTT’s strategic relationships with technology services distributors, selling partners, information technology consultants and other third-party distribution channels in the Americas,” according to a company statement.

Seegers started with the Arlington, Va.-based company, No. 51 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after more than 24 years with Lumen Technologies and its predecessor companies, according to her LinkedIn account.

She left Lumen with the title of national vice president of the indirect partner channel.

Yu-Ting Kuo

Yu-Ting Kuo returned to Microsoft in December, taking on the role of corporate vice president.

Kuo came back to the Redmond, Wash.-based tech giant after previously working at Microsoft for about 25 years, according to his LinkedIn account. He left the vendor in 2021 with the CVP title, having founded and led Microsoft's Azure AI Cognitive Services and Computer Vision Group during his tenure.

His resume includes time working with various academic institutions, including serving as a faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management and an entrepreneurship expert at the University of Oxford.

Microsoft has about 400,000 partners worldwide and has been working toward increasing the overall percentage of company revenue that comes through the channel and increasing the number of net new accounts coming through partners, according to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs.

Reet Mand

Reet Mand became vice president of growth marketing at CrowdStrike in December.

Mand joined the Austin, Texas-based security vendor after about two years as chief marketing officer of Honeycomb.io, according to her LinkedIn account.

Her resume includes about two years with Okta, leaving the identity vendor in 2023 as VP of demand and regional marketing.

CrowdStrike has been working to increase the level of professional services going through partners and increase the number of net new accounts coming through partners, according to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs.

Ashraf Karim

ServiceNow brought on Ashraf Karim in December as a new senior vice president of product and engineering.

Karim joined the Santa Clara, Calif.-based automation platform vendor after about a year with Cisco, according to her LinkedIn account. She left Cisco in 2024 with the title of VP of product management.

Her resume includes about a year with Affirm. She left the company with the title of SVP of product management.

ServiceNow has about 2,200 channel partners worldwide, according to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs.

Sommer Newman

Sommer Newman returned to Palo Alto Networks in December, taking on the role of vice president of business development across alliances ecosystems.

Newman came to the Santa Clara, Calif.-based security and firewalls vendor after about four years with Netskope, according to her LinkedIn account. She left Netskope with the title of VP of global system integrators (GSIs), service providers and MSPs.

She previously worked at Palo Alto Networks for about eight years, leaving in 2020. During that tenure she co-founded the vendor’s managed security services providers (MSSP) center of excellence and worked on the global MSSP channel go-to-market (GTM) strategy.

Palo Alto Networks has about 15,000 channel partners worldwide, according to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs.

Michelle Biase

In December, Michelle Biase returned to HP, becoming president and managing director of HP Canada.

Biase rejoined the Palo Alto, Calif.-based computer maker after about three years with D&H Distributing, according to her LinkedIn account. She left D&H with the title of general manager of D&H Canada.

Her previous stint with HP ended in 2021 when she left with the title of head of North American managed print services transition and transformation.

HP has about 250,000 channel partners worldwide, according to CRN’s 2024 Channel Chiefs.

Lara Balazs

Adobe hired Lara Balazs as chief marketing officer and executive vice president of global marketing in December, according to a company statement.

Balazs came to the San Jose, Calif.-based marketing and document management software vendor after about six years with Intuit, according to her LinkedIn account. She left Intuit with the title of CMO and general manager of Intuit’s Strategic Partner Group.

Her resume includes about a year with Amazon, leaving in 2018 as VP of worldwide Prime and North America marketing.

Jeannine Edwards

Jeannine Edwards joined Cynet in December as senior marketing director.

Edwards came to the Boston-based security vendor after about a year with Asigra SaaSAssure, according to her LinkedIn account. She left Asigra SaaSAssure with the title of vice president of marketing.

Her resume includes about five years with Arcserve. She left the company in 2022 with the title of VP of marketing in the Americas.

Vinod Peris

In December, Cisco brought on Vinod Peris as senior vice president of engineering, overseeing enterprise routing, switching, wireless and internet of things (IoT) products.

Peris came to the San Jose, Calif.-based networking giant after about two years with Juniper Networks – which is in the process of being acquired by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). He left Juniper with the title of VP of engineering, according to his LinkedIn account.

His resume includes about a year with Constella. He left the company in 2022 with the title of chief development officer.

Prasenjit Dasgupta

Prasenjit Dasgupta became executive vice president and chief financial officer of Hyland in December.

Dasgupta joined the Westlake, Ohio-based content management tools vendor after about three years with Digital.ai, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Digital.ai with the CFO title.

His resume includes about two years with Motorola Solutions. He left the company in 2021 with the title of corporate vice president and CFO of the software and services segment.

Katherine Jones

In December, Katherine Jones joined Synoptek as vice president of marketing.

Jones came to the Irvine, Calif.-based company, a member of CRN’s 2024 MSP 500, after about four years with Rimini Street, according to her LinkedIn account. She left Rimini Street with the title of VP of global demand and growth marketing.

Her resume includes about four years with Lumen Technologies, which rebranded from CenturyLink in 2020. Jones left Lumen in 2021.

Nicolas Lavoie

Alithya brought Nicolas Lavoie on as its new chief financial officer in December.

Lavoie came to the Montreal-based company, No. 137 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about seven years with Solotech, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Solotech with the title of chief financial and administrative officer.

His resume includes about six years with Gildan. He left the apparel company in 2018 with the title of senior vice president of finance.

Amir Carmi

Amir Carmi became chief information security officer for AllCloud in December.

Carmi joined the Denver-based company, a member of CRN’s 2024 MSP 500, after about five years with ThriveDX, according to his LinkedIn account. He left ThriveDX with the title of global CISO.

His resume includes about 11 years with ESET and its partner Comsecure. He left in 2020 with the title of chief technology officer.

Rob Steele

Arctiq hired Rob Steele in December as its vice president of modern infrastructure.

Steele started with the Irvine, Calif.-based company, No. 123 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about a year with Clutch Solutions, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Clutch with the title of strategic adviser.

His resume includes about three years with Stratascale. He left the company in 2023 as director of enterprise architecture.

Josh Wyatt

In December, Cyderes hired Josh Wyatt, tasking him with the role of vice president of offensive security.

Wyatt came to the Kansas City, Mo.-based company, No. 93 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about a year with Coalfire, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Coalfire with the title of VP of cybersecurity services.

His resume includes about four years with Rapid7. He left in 2024 with the title of VP of security services.

Ben Zieky

Ben Zieky joined Future Tech in December as vice president of strategic clients.

Zieky was hired by the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company, No. 76 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about 13 years with Dell Technologies, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Dell with the title of VP of sales for the Southeast.

His resume includes about seven years with Builders FirstSource, leaving in 2010 as an account executive.

Todd Malan

QTS Data Centers hired Todd Malan in December, tasking him with the role of executive vice president of government relations and external affairs.

Malan started with the Overland Park, Kan.-based company, No. 73 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about three years with Talon Metals, according to his LinkedIn account. He left Talon with the title of chief external affairs officer and head of climate strategy.

His resume includes about eight years with Rio Tinto. Malan left the company in 2021 with the title of VP of corporate relations for the Americas.

Antony Parchment

Antony Parchment joined New Era Technology in December as senior vice president of strategic technology solutions.

Parchment came to the New York-based company, No. 53 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about six years with Epsilon and Publicis Groupe, according to his LinkedIn account. He left the company most recently with the title of VP of strategic consulting for data and marketing technology. Publicis acquired Epsilon in 2019.

Ryan Pugatch

DoiT hired Ryan Pugatch as a new vice president of product management in December.

Pugatch came to the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company, a member of CRN’s 2024 MSP 500, after about three years with EY, according to his LinkedIn account. He left EY with the title of head of product for the Fabric platform and developer experience.

His resume includes about nine years with Hachette Book Group. He left the company in 2022 with the title of VP of strategic technology.

Eric Gardner

In December Eric Gardner joined Leidos as vice president of operations.

Gardner started with the Reston, Va.-based company, No. 10 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about a year with Flagship Health. He left Flagship with the title of VP of operations, according to his LinkedIn account.

His resume includes more than 20 years with the U.S. Air Force, leaving in 2019.

Eric Noël

In December, Eric Noël took on the role of senior vice president of global perspectives at CGI.

In this role, he will “help CGI navigate external shifts – economic, political, technological, social, and environmental” and “develop forward-looking recommendations to guide the company through its macro transitions,” according to a LinkedIn post.

Noël joined the Montreal-based company, No. 12 on CRN’s 2024 Solution Provider 500, after about 30 years with Oxford Analytica. He left Oxford as an international adviser and previously held the title of senior vice president of North America.

Justin Bingham

Justin Bingham became chief information security officer of Park Place Technologies in December.

Bingham joined the Cleveland, Ohio-based company, a member of CRN’s 2024 MSP 500, after about three years with KLA, according to his LinkedIn account. He left KLA with the title of director of global cybersecurity operations.

His resume includes about five years with General Motors, leaving a role in strategic cyber intelligence in 2022. He spent about four years with the U.S. Army, leaving in 2007 as a human intelligence collector.
