Automation Startup Liongard Integrates With IT Glue

‘We are the level four engineer that doesn’t sleep at night, that goes out to the systems and loves documenting all the details across all the systems that push into IT Glue,’ Vincent Tran, chief operating officer with Liongard tells CRN.

Automation startup Liongard – which just secured $4.5 million in financing to further develop its flagship Roar product – announced an integration with IT Glue that will give partners “granular control” over the data that Liongard moves, the company told CRN.

“There’s a number of adjectives that describe the vast amount of data that we were pushing into IT Glue,” said Vincent Tran, chief operating officer with Houston-based Liongard. “Depending on the size of the customer, we could push hundreds of rows of data into IT Glue and (partners) needed much more granular control over the details that they were sending across. This is to strengthen the relationship we have with IT Glue partners, as well as the folks who are out there who do use IT Glue, who want to make sure they have granular control over those flexible asset fields.”

Liongard’s platform Roar automates the IT documentation process that used to be a manual chore performed by technicians, and does so in a way that increases awareness of end users’ IT environments, the company said. The Roar platform gives MSPs visibility into on-premise apps, network devices, and cloud services. Liongard said the end result is faster on-boarding times, and the ability to resolve customer issues more quickly.

“In a sense we are the level four engineer that doesn’t sleep at night, that goes out to the systems and loves documenting all the details across all the systems that push into IT Glue,” Tran said.

The company, which earlier this year told CRN that it was sitting at about 250 partners, is growing by at least 50 per month, and sits at more than 300 today. Liongard recently announced an integration with Kaseya – which acquired IT Glue last year -- and is looking to work with other PSA tools as well.

“A majority of our partner base are IT Glue users,” Tran said. “With IT Glue there’s a great wiki that allows users to essentially create their playbooks and capture their policies and procedures. So in that sense it gives you the flexibility and the freeform template to insert the data that you need. At the end of the day, you’re still relying on your engineers to input that data, logging into the individual systems that you’re managing.”

To help make that easier, Liongard is releasing an IT Glue integration – final testing with a subset of partners is underway -- which it hopes to have finished by mid-June.

“This is just one step on that path to that larger topic of documentation control and really giving our partners the ability to put the data that they want, where they want it, and to link it all together in a way that makes sense to how their technicians look at the world, and how they managed their partner’s IT infrastructure,” Matt Miller, director of automation strategy with Liongard told CRN. “That’s really the path that we’re on when we use the term documentation control.”

Tran said besides pushing data into IT Glue, which Liongard does today, the new integration will give partners control over flexible assets at IT Glue, and allow them to determine which ones are included and which ones are excluded.

“There are some customers that they managed that could have over 100 users and you’re scrolling down a very long document,” Tran said. “Now they can just kind of condense that down to a very succinct link back to Roar to review the rest of the data. That is the level of control that we are aiming to give our customers.”
