Watch: Cisco Partner Summit Serenades CEO Chuck Robbins

The 3,000 solution providers attending Cisco Partner Summit this week in Las Vegas helped Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins celebrate his birthday.

To the dismay of many solution providers, Cisco Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins last year missed the first day of Cisco Partner Summit because it conflicted with the company's quarterly earnings call with Wall Street analysts. This year, he made it for day one on Nov. 5 in Las Vegas, even though it fell on his birthday.

To mark the occasion, Oliver Tuszik, senior vice president of the Global Partner Organization at Cisco, led the audience of 3,000 solution providers in a rendition of "Happy Birthday" to welcome Robbins to the stage to deliver a keynote address.

Tuszik even pulled out a pitch pipe to make sure the singing was in tune.

"I invited some people for your birthday party. I hope it's OK," Tuszik said as he shook Robbins' hand after the conclusion of the serenade.

"I appreciate it, but we do get a day off for our birthday, I get to take vacation today, so good luck," Robbins quipped, clapping Tuszik on the shoulder and pretending to walk off the stage.

To the laughing audience he added: "I hope you guys enjoy your new worldwide partner organization leader next year."

Next year's Cisco Partner Summit is scheduled to run Nov. 4 – 5 in Las Vegas, meaning Robbins will again spend his birthday with partners if he attends the second day.
