CRN’s Women of the Year Awards aims to shine a spotlight on women who have made significant contributions to the channel throughout 2026.


CRN is pleased to introduce the finalists for the fourth annual Women of the Year Awards, a project that aims to shine a spotlight on women who have made significant contributions to the channel throughout 2026 and the companies that support them.

The finalists -- spanning 19 individual categories and two company categories -- were selected by a panel of judges from a pool of over 300 applicants. Next, a panel of judges comprised of CRN editors and members of the channel community at large will select the winners, who will be announced and celebrated at the CRN Women of the Year Awards Gala on December 8 at Pier Sixty in New York City.

Melissa serves as a Member of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG and as a Non-Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Europe. She previously served on the advisory board of the UK's Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and co-authored the final report of the Department for Business and Trade's SME Digital Adoption Taskforce.

She is co-founder of Inner Wings, a charitable foundation working with over 150 UK primary schools to build confidence in children aged 6-12, and is a dedicated advocate for gender equity in the technology sector.

Kate joined the company in 2022. Prior to Lumen, Kate held executive leadership roles at Microsoft, GE Digital and Oracle, as well as various commercial and technology leadership roles at Red Hat, UBS Investment Bank and Deloitte Consulting. Leading businesses ranging from $20 million to $2.7 billion in revenue, Smurthwaite-Murphy has shaped private companies, global distribution, managed services, and branded product businesses through significant channel evolution, digital transformation, supply chain complexity, and changing customer expectations. Before joining Plugable, Smurthwaite-Murphy served as president and CEO of StarTech.com and held several senior leadership roles with Westcon-Comstor and Westcon, including EVP of North America, VP/GM Canada, VP and GM of Convergence North America, and General Manager of Canada. Lynn led the North American region with 600 employees, four divisions, and $2.7 billion in revenue. Her efforts contributed to growing the StarTech business by more than 50%in 3 years and Westcon Comstor’s business 80% in six years and built the security division into a $1 billion business. In her role at Crayon, a SoftwareOne company, Heather leads the Hyperscaler strategy, accelerating deal velocity through strategic co-selling while also leading Channel Programs that unlock growth with and through Channel Partners. She works closely with Crayon’s leadership to design and implement a joint business plan that enhances Crayon’s market position and delivers greater value to customers through shared initiatives and go-to-market efforts.



Prior to joining Crayon, Heather led the global Microsoft Alliance at Teradata, a top-tier Global ISV partner. There, she oversaw the full spectrum of partnership activities—from build with, sell with, to market with strategies—ensuring deep integration across both organizations. Earlier in her career, Heather held multiple executive roles at Ingram Micro, including positions in VAR sales, global marketing operations, and vendor management.
