AWS Summit San Francisco 2022: The 15 Coolest Products
Intel, Fortinet, Anodot, ClearScale and Edge Delta were among the showfloor vendors in attendance at the Amazon Web Services Summit event in San Francisco last week.
A 3D tracking service for athletes from Intel, a data strategy assessment from ClearScale and a stream processing platform from Edge Delta were among the coolest vendor products showcased at Amazon Web Services’ Summit event in San Francisco held Wednesday and Thursday.
Thousands of attendees, dozens of vendors and about a dozen protesters gathered for the Summit, part of a series of in-person events dedicated to spreading skills and knowledge around the cloud giant’s offerings.
Other in-person AWS Summits this year are planned for Madrid; Stockholm; Berlin; Israel; Washington D.C.; Milan; Australia; Canada and New Delhi, according to the company.
Here were the vendors that impressed on the Summit’s exhibit floor.
Intel 3D Athlete Tracking
Representatives from Intel demonstrated the chipmaker’s 3D Athlete Tracking (3DAT) service at the AWS Summit in San Francisco.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company’s 3DAT uses deep learning to analyze videos of athletes performing in real time with the goal of enhancing the audience viewing experience during competitions, according to Intel.
The service was trained on Amazon EC2 DL1 instances and is powered by Gaudi accelerators from Intel subsidiary Habana Labs.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was on site at the AWS Summit to show off some of its work with the cloud giant, including their collaboration on the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ multiphysics computational fluid dynamics application distributed by Siemens.
The app is used to simulate product operation under real-world conditions involving fluids, according to Santa Clara, Calif.-based AMD. The app runs on Amazon EC2 Hpc6a instances and is powered by AMD EPYC 7003 series processors.
Those AWS instances have 100 gigabits per second Elastic Fabric Adapter networking. They can be combined with Amazon FSx for Lustre for submillisecond latencies and hundreds of gigabytes per second of storage throughput.
Anodot For Cloud Cost
Anodot offers a cloud cost management tool for AWS that is offered through the cloud giant’s Marketplace.
Anodot for Cloud Cost provides visibility, continuous monitoring and forecasts of cloud costs, according to the Ashburn, Va.-based business data monitoring tools provider. Anodot promises up to 40 percent in saved annual cloud spend using its tool.
Anodot users see costs from all cloud service providers in one platform 24 hours after initial connection. Users can make custom reports and dashboards and look for anomalous behavior, according to the company.
The company also has tools aimed at managed services providers, featuring billing rules, credit management, invoicing, reporting and other capabilities.
It was a member of CRN’s “Coolest Emerging Vendors Of The 2020 Big Data 100.”
ClearScale Data Strategy Assessment
ClearScale, a San Francisco-based AWS partner that offers managed services, cloud migrations, data analytics and other solutions, was among the vendors on site for the April AWS Summit.
The company has five services available on AWS’ Marketplace, including a data strategy assessment, a Windows workloads optimization and licensing assessment (OLA), a Windows migration assessment, a data lake setup and an application modernization accelerator.
Over the summer, ClearScale CEO Pavel Pragin told CRN that some existing Microsoft customers are still choosing Microsoft over AWS. But what’s winning AWS new contracts is a long-term bet that AWS will stick around and continue to invest in the best products and services.
The company was founded in 2011, according to ClearScale.
VMware Cloud On AWS Outposts
Representatives from virtualization and cloud services provider VMware were at the Summit to advertise the company’s VMware Cloud on AWS Outposts offering to bring VMware’cloud to users’ own data centers as a service.
Launched last year, this service is a jointly engineered on-premises as-a-service solution powered by VMware Cloud Foundation that runs the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company’s software-defined data center software – including vSphere, vSAN, NSX and vCenter management – on dedicated Amazon bare-metal instances provisioned in AWS Outposts.
AWS Outposts are a fully managed hybrid service that extends AWS infrastructure, services, APIs and tools to virtually any data center, co-location space or on-premises facility.
Clumio provides back-as-a-service available on AWS’ Marketplace with the goal of simplifying how organizations achieve compliance, how they can restore data in minutes and gain better visibility on cloud storage costs.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company’s Protect service automates AWS protection for Amazon S3, EC2, EBS, RDS, SQL Server on EC2, DynamoDB, VMware Cloud on AWS and Microsoft 365.
Founded in 2017, Clumio has raised more than $185 million in funding to date, according to Crunchbase.
CometChat provides an in-application communication platform with text, voice and video function.
The Denver-based company provides one-to-one calling and group calling and chatting, video calling and conferencing, media sharing and other capabilities, according to CometChat.
The platform is used for live events, comment moderation powered by artificial intelligence, real-time chat in marketplaces and other use cases, according to the company.
Founded in 2019, CometChat has raised more than $12 million to date, according to Crunchbase.
AWS services partner Innovative Solutions has five products available on AWS’ Marketplace.
The West Henrietta, N.Y.-based managed services provider offers a cost, security and compliance snapshot; a cost optimization service; managed cloud services; a cloud architecture review and a Kubernetes snapshot.
Innovative raised $60 million this year, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company was founded in 1989.
Era Software EraSearch
Era Software provides the EraSearch cloud-native log management product for workloads of any size.
The Seattle-based startup’s tool aims to reduce the complexity of ingesting, storing and exploring large log volumes. The storage engine promises to handle any data structure, according to Era.
Founded in 2019, this company has raised more than $22 million to date, according to Crunchbase.
Trend Micro Cloud One
Trend Micro sent representatives to AWS Summit in San Francisco to talk about its Cloud One security services platform for organizations on AWS.
Based in Japan with a U.S. headquarters in Irving, Texas, Trend Micro promises instance protection against malware, ransomware and other threats. It can protect Linux and Graviton2 workloads, according to the company.
The tool enables S3 bucket security while retaining data sovereignty, cloud security posture improvement, network security, container security and other capabilities, according to Trend Micro.
CRN ranked Trend Micro on its list of “10 Hottest XDR Security Companies To Watch In 2022” for its Vision One extended detection and response (XDR) tool.
This graph database technology provider has two offerings through the AWS Marketplace – its enterprise edition and its AuraDB Enterprise product.
San Mateo, Calif.-based Neo4j’s enterprise edition promises native graph storage, scalable speed-optimized architecture plus atomicity, consistency, isolation and durability (ACID) compliance, according to the company.
AuraDB Enterprise promises an automated graph database-as-a-service for connected data for developing graph-based applications, according to the company.
Datadog provides six products through AWS’ Marketplace: DataDog Pro, a pay-as-you-go version of Datadog Pro, Datadog Enterprise and the container-based agents for each of those offerings.
The New York-based application monitoring service provider uses real-time logs, server metrics, containers, databases and applications with end-to-end tracing alerts and visualizations for full-stack observability, according to Datadog.
Rollbar Enterprise For AWS
Rollbar Enterprise for AWS offers a continuous code improvement platform with the goal of faster and better software deployment with quick recovery from critical errors.
The San Francisco-based company has 350 million monthly active application end users covered, has caught more than 1 billion unique errors and has 150 million error occurrences processed daily, according to Rollbar.
Founded in 2012, the company has raised more than $18 million to date, according to Crunchbase.
Fortinet FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall
Representatives with this cybersecurity vendor were on site at the AWS Summit this month to talk about the FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall, which is available through AWS Marketplace.
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Fortinet promises a content and network protection service with stateful inspection, application control, antivirus, web filtering, virtual private network (VPN) and other features designed to mitigate threats.
FortiGate has led to some sparring from rival Check Point over which service delivers the better performance.
This company uses federated learning to analyze data for analytics, pre-processing data before it is centralized for greater visibility with the promise of faster alerting and quicker automation.
Seattle-based Edge Delta offers two versions of its stream processing platform through AWS Marketplace – pro and enterprise. The platform has use for development operations (DevOps) security analytics and detection and automated detection and mitigation, according to Edge Delta.
Founded in 2018, the startup has raised more than $17 million to date, according to Crunchbase.
