30 Hot Products At CES 2018

Blast Off

Get ready: The massive Las Vegas techie spectacle known as CES is about to launch for another year. CES 2018 will feature thousands of innovative, fun and weird exhibitors -- starting with two days of media announcements on Sunday and Monday, and then followed by demos and showcases through Friday. Vendors will show off products in categories such as the Internet of Things and smart home, cybersecurity, mobility and personal computing, and robotics.

Since there's a high probability of information overload from CES, we've rounded up 30 products that are poised to stand out -- both from big vendors like Samsung and Intel and from smaller, up-and-coming players.

Here's what's hot at CES 2018.

Samsung HMD Odyssey

Introduced in the fall, Samsung's HMD Odyssey is a Windows Mixed Reality headset that features integrated AKG headphones and vibrant dual 3.5-inch AMOLED displays. The headset aims to provide an immersive experience -- for playing games and watching videos -- with a 110-degree field of view and 360-degree surround sound. The HMD Odyssey also includes two cameras, a built-in microphone, and sensors including a proximity sensor. Importantly, extra motion sensors aren't needed for the HMD Odyssey unlike with other head-mounted displays.

Samsung CHG90 Gaming Monitor

Another notable Samsung product on display at CES 2018 is the CHG90 Gaming Monitor, a 49-inch display that the company calls "the world’s largest QLED gaming monitor." The monitor debuted in August, and in December it became the first display to receive DisplayHDR certification from the Video Electronics Standards Association. The CHG90 Gaming Monitor features 3,840 x 1,080 resolution, 1800R curvature (i.e., a curvature radius of 1,800mm), a 32:9 wide aspect ratio, and a 144Hz refresh rate.

While Jibo can answer questions and handle certain tasks similarly to other assistants -- and take photos on command, too -- the robot is meant more to serve as a pet (or even member of the family) than an assistant. While it's still early days for Jibo, the robot is certainly one of the most intriguing products -- or should we say personalities? -- appearing at CES 2018.

Buddy Companion Robot

At CES 2018, conference attendees will have a chance to interact with Buddy, a robot that acts as a smart home assistant.
