CES 2018: 5 Cool HP Products That Just Launched

Big Debuts From HP

The world's largest PC maker is wasting no time in getting things rolling for 2018. HP Inc. unveiled refreshed versions for the Spectre x360 15 convertible laptop and Envy x2 tablet during CES 2018 in Las Vegas. And the company rolled out other products as well, including the brand-new HP Z 3D Camera and a new lineup of displays. In the following slides, we've laid out what you need to know about HP's five new products at CES 2018.

HP Spectre x360 15

HP is going big on performance with its new update for the Spectre x360 15, a 15.6-inch convertible laptop aimed at creative professionals and other graphics-heavy users. Along with packing a quad-core eighth-gen Intel Core i7 processor, the laptop offers a choice between two powerful discrete graphics options: AMD's Radeon RX Vega M or Nvidia's GeForce MX 150. For the display, the Spectre x360 15 features a super-sharp 4K/UHD touch screen with Gorilla Glass 4, as well as a minimal bezel around the screen. The laptop also features quad Bang & Olufsen speakers, Windows Hello facial recognition, 13.5 hours of battery life, and compatibility with a digital pen (which is included). To make room for the discrete graphics, the new Spectre x360 15 is a bit thicker than the previous generation (0.76 of an inch thick versus 0.7 of an inch previously), while the weight has increased to 4.6 pounds from 4.4 pounds previously.

The new HP Spectre x360 15 will be available March 18 with a starting price of $1,369.99.

HP Envy x2

In December, HP launched a new version of the Envy x2 as one of the first Windows devices to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. Now, in connection with CES 2018, HP is debuting a new Envy x2 model featuring seventh-gen Intel Core Y-series processors. The Intel version of the 2-in-1 tablet offers stronger performance than the Snapdragon version, along with the ability to run full Windows applications. As a trade-off, the Intel version of the new Envy x2 doesn't last as long on battery life--up to 15 hours compared with 20 hours for the Snapdragon version. The 12.3-inch tablet includes Gorilla Glass 4 for durability, fast-charging capabilities and optional LTE connectivity. The device also comes with a digital pen and a backlit keyboard featuring 1.3mm key travel.

The new HP Envy x2 with Intel processor will be available in the spring. Pricing hasn't been disclosed.

HP Z 3-D Camera

HP is introducing one brand-new product at CES 2018, the HP Z 3-D Camera, which can capture and digitize 3-D objects and other content. The concept for the camera is borrowed from the 3-D camera on the Sprout Pro G2, but the HP Z camera is more compact, at 4.51 x 8.73 x 5 inches. The HP Z 3-D Camera also captures 2-D documents and video along with 3-D objects, and the down-facing camera attaches to the top of a computer display. Uses included scanning 3-D objects for virtual reality and physically based rendering applications.

The HP Z 3-D Camera will be available in March for $599.

HP Displays

HP is using CES 2018 to launch a refreshed lineup of FHD (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) displays, with a range of available sizes. The IPS displays feature a minimal bezel and high brightness (up to 300 nits), along with wide viewing angles and a 75Hz refresh rate. The new HP displays will be available in a total of five sizes—21.5-inch, 23-inch, 23.8-inch, 25-inch and 27-inch.

The new HP Displays will be available April 15, with pricing between $99 and $229 depending on the display size.

More Products

HP is debuting a handful of additional products and accessories at CES 2018. Those include the Omen Game Stream, which acts as a game server to connect Omen PCs to other PCs over the web. HP is also introducing the HP Tilt Pen, a digital pen that's geared toward drawing and shading at angles; the HP Spectre USB-C Power Pack, a 20,100mAh battery for charging HP USB-C laptops on the go; and the HP Spectre USB-C Travel Dock 2.0, a lightweight dock (0.29 of a pound) that includes ports for VGA, HDMI, Ethernet, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.
