It's gearing up to be a busy summer for managed service application developers. Here's a roundup of recent news that impacts MSPs.

LabTech, Quosal Available In Ingram Micro Cloud

Ingram Micro announced that LabTech Software and Quosal, both ConnectWise Capital companies, are available in the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace to North American solution providers. They are the latest additions to Ingram's Cloud Marketplace, which has expanded significantly in 2012. The ConnectWise agreement adds LabTech's remote monitoring and management (RMM) solutions as well as Quosal's quote and proposal preparation solutions.

GFI Launches OEM Partner Program

GFI Software has launched an OEM Partner Program that lets other technology vendors integrate GFI's security and network management solutions into their own products or rebrand them as stand-alone offerings, according to the company.

The program is available for Clearwater, Fla.-based GFI Software's malware defense, remote management and collaboration, Web security, email security, patch management, vulnerability management, remote monitoring, device management, advanced threat detection and application management, according to GFI.

Vendors initially participating in the OEM Partner Program include Avanquest Software, Faronics Corp., FixMeStick, Impero, LabTech Software, Lavasoft and RSA, according to GFI. GFI has developed its own One Plus One methodology to guide partners through the integration process, Waits added.

Autotask Launches Certified Consulting Partner Program

Autotask has announced a new Certified Consulting Partner program and the expansion of its client services operations.

The Certified Consulting Partner (CCP) program connects Autotask users with new and existing customers looking to better maximize the value of their Autotask implementation, according to the East Greenbush, N.Y.-based company. The program is designed to provide unique benefits to both the CCPs and to the Autotask users who engage them.

To become a Certified Consulting Partner for Autotask, service providers must complete a training and testing program and are required to participate in ongoing product and business process training during their tenure, according to Autotask CEO Mark Cattini.

Meanwhile, Autotask also said it plans to realign its resources to provide better support and aims to increase support personnel by 50 percent by the end of the year.

Continuum Integrates Malwarebytes And RapidFire

Continuum has added anti-malware software powered by Malwarebytes and a new network assessment tool, Continuum Network Detective, powered by RapidFire Tools, to the company's RMM platform. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software is free to Continuum partners and works alongside antivirus programs and uses advanced heuristic and behavioral scanning to monitor every process in order to detect, destroy and prevent malicious processes before they start injecting viruses, spyware, trojans, keyloggers, password stealers, dialers and more. Meanwhile, Network Detective produces branded reports that are completed in less than thirty minutes.

Assessments can be run with no agents or installs, which enables MSPs to use this non-invasive tool with both prospective and current customers, according to Continuum.

Norman ASA Launches Security-As-A-Service Solution

Norman ASA has launched Norman Online Protection (NOP), a high-performance security-as-a-service solution for email, Web surfing and online backup. The suite consists of Norman SecureTide (email protection), Norman SecureSurf (Web protection) and Norman Online Backup (storage). The Norman Online Protection services are placed outside an organization's network and require no hardware or software installation, according to the Fairfax, Va.-based company.

BackupAgent Gives Developers Free Backup Service

BackupAgent, a provider of cloud backup software for service providers, is providing free backup services for developers who use the Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP) technology stack, according to the Amsterdam-based company.

BackupAgent enables the backup of MySQL databases on table level while they are actively in use and without interrupting business operations, even during the backup window, according to the company. The free subscription comes with a 10 GB backup storage capacity plan and an indefinite subscription length and is limited to 500 subscriptions and accounts that will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
