The global cloud market exploded in the third quarter of 2025 to $107 billion, increasing $7.6 billion in just one quarter—as AWS, Microsoft and Google Cloud continue to dominate global cloud market share.

AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft—combined—won 62 percent share of the global enterprise cloud infrastructure services market, according to new data from Synergy Research Group.

“The market is just going from strength to strength with some record-breaking numbers,” said John Dinsdale, a chief analyst at Synergy Research Group, in an email to CRN. “The $7.6 billion revenue growth from the previous quarter was by far the biggest ever.”

Q3 2025 Cloud Services Market Reaches $107 Billion

Before jumping into market share, let’s look at the overall market. Enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure services reached $107 billion in Q3 2025, representing an increase of 28 percent year over year.

“This is the eighth consecutive increase in year-on-year growth rates, with current growth up by over 10 percentage points from Q3 of 2023. That is a major achievement for a market of this size,” Dinsdale said.

He said AI “has its fingerprints all over these record-breaking numbers, driving rapid expansion of AI-specific services,” while boosting other cloud services.

“GenAI is driving a lot of the positive metrics, and as one example of that, revenues from GPUaaS are now growing by over 200 percent per year,” he said. “That all adds up to a surging cloud market, which bodes well for the coming years.”

The Austin, Texas-based company reported total cloud revenue of $7.2 billion for its recent fiscal 2026 first quarter. This represented a 28 percent year-over-year cloud sales increase.

Oracle has hovered around 3 percent global share for the past several years.

China’s largest cloud company, Alibaba, has consistently ranked No. 4 year after year with the third quarter of 2025 being no different.

Alibaba achieved a 4 percent global cloud market share in Q3 2025.

For the company’s recent fiscal 2026 first quarter financial results, Alibaba’s Cloud Intelligence Group generated $4.7 billion in revenue, an increase of 26 percent year over year.

Google Cloud is gaining momentum in the enterprise as the Google Cloud Platform is constantly injected with new agentic and AI technologies.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based company won third place by winning 13 percent market share in the third quarter of 2025.

Google Cloud generated total sales of $15.2 billion for Q3 3025, an increase of 34 percent year over year. Google’s cloud group now has an annual revenue run rate of around $61 billion.

Google Cloud has been slowly gaining market share over the past few years. It’s global market has now hovered around 13 percent over the past several quarters.

The world’s largest software company won second place by winning a 20 percent share of the global market in Q3 2025.

Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft has been the second largest cloud company on the planet for over a decade. It’s market share has been hovering around 20 percent in recent quarters, according to Synergy’s data.

Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud group generated $30.9 billion in total sales during the third calendar quarter, up 28 percent year over year.

Microsoft’s cloud business now has an annual revenue run rate of $123 billion.

AWS continues to be the leading cloud company in the world by winning 29 percent share of the global market.

The Seattle-based cloud giant reported $33 billion in sales for Q3 2025, up 20 percent year over year, giving AWS a $132 billion annual revenue run rate.

However, it is key to note that AWS market share has been trending downward over the past several years.

In Q3 2024, AWS’ market share was 31 percent—two points lower than Q3 2025.

For Q3 2023, the company owned 32 percent of the market.

In Q3 2022, AWS owned a 34 percent share of the market.

American tech behemoths Salesforce and IBM won approximately 2 percent share of the global market in Q3 2025.

Chinese IT giants Huawei and Tencent also achieved about 2 percent market share in the quarter.

Other companies that won around 1 percent share of the market include Akamai, Baidu, China Telecom, China Unicom, CoreWeave, Databricks, Fujitsu, NTT, OpenAI, Snowflake and SAP.
