HP: Advancing Societal Impact Through Digital Equity

As social and economic gaps grow globally and digital skills become more necessary, HP is dedicated to closing these divides and striving for a sustainable future. Learn how HP is helping people gain access to technology, develop digital literacy and AI capabilities, and acquire the digital skills essential for the Future of Work.

Research from the Alliance for Affordable Internet estimates that a $1 trillion digital divide continues to hold billions back from education, employment, and participation in the global economy1. As generative AI transforms the future of work, the gap between those with access to technology and those without threatens to grow even wider, leaving entire communities behind. Addressing this challenge is not only a moral imperative but also a significant business opportunity.

That is why HP has made digital equity a cornerstone of its global strategy, aligning purpose with performance and inviting its channel partners to do the same. “This is a unique moment for social impact,” says Michele Malejki, HP’s Global Head of Social Impact. “HP sees digital equity not just as a responsibility, but as a business driver. It’s part of our DNA.”

Since 2021, HP has committed to accelerating digital equity for 150 million people by 2030, focusing on equipping disconnected adolescents and adults with the digital skills they need for the future of work. Nearly a third of the world remains offline, representing untapped potential and lost GDP. By closing that gap, HP and its partners are creating opportunity and driving growth across markets.

Empowering People for the Future of Work

The World Economic Forum predicts a global shortage of 85 million skilled workers by 2030, representing $8.5 trillion in unrealized revenue1. HP is addressing this challenge head-on through initiatives that help develop digital skills and enable participation in the evolving digital economy.

One example is the Digital Equity Accelerator, which supports nonprofits with $100,000 in grants, HP technology and a six-month capacity-building program. Since its launch, it has helped 27 organizations across nine countries reach more than nine million people.

For HP channel partners, engaging with these efforts creates opportunities to build local trust, strengthen customer relationships, and demonstrate shared values with clients and communities.

Purpose as a Growth Engine for Partners

HP’s digital equity mission delivers measurable business results. HP Amplify Impact partners have reported a 70% increase in win rates and a twofold rise in sustainable sales year over year. Research also shows that companies prioritizing social impact attract and retain talent more effectively, reducing turnover costs and improving morale.

For HP partners, this connection opens doors to emerging markets, builds stronger relationships with government and enterprise customers, and resonates with today’s values-driven buyers—77% of whom say they prefer to purchase from companies making the world better.

“It’s never too late to get started,” concludes Michele, “and that’s the power of partnerships and ecosystems coming together.”
