Top 6 AI Markets In $1.5 Trillion Industry; AI Spending In 2026 To Hit $2 Trillion: Gartner
Here’s the six largest tech markets in 2025 and 2026 in terms of global AI spending—including GenAI smartphones, AI services, AI processing semiconductors and AI-optimized servers—according to new data from Gartner.
Global spending on artificial intelligence will reach nearly $1.5 trillion in 2025 with worldwide spending topping $2 trillion in 2026, new data from Gartner shows.
“The forecast assumes continued investment in AI infrastructure expansion, as major hyperscalers continue to increase investments in data centers with AI-optimized hardware and GPUs to scale their services,” said John-David Lovelock, distinguished vice president and analyst at Gartner, in a statement.
The top six leading IT markets where AI dollars will be spent in 2025 are: GenAI smartphones at $298 billion; AI services at $283 billion; AI-optimized servers at $268 billion; AI processing semiconductors at $209 billion; AI application software at $172 billion; and AI Infrastructure software at $126 billion.
Gartner said overall global AI spending is expected to exceed $2 trillion in 2026, led by AI being integrated into products such as PCs and smartphones, as well as infrastructure.
Top AI Spending Markets Worldwide In 2025, 2026
According to data from Gartner, spending on GenAI smartphones will reach $298 billion in 2025 and increase to $393 billion in 2026, representing an annual increase of 32 percent.
Global spending on AI services will increase from $283 billion this year to $325 billion in 2026, representing an annual increase of 15 percent.

Spending on AI-optimized servers—such as GPUs and non-GPU AI accelerators—will jump from $268 billion in 2025 to $330 billion in 2026, up 23 percent year over year.
Gartner predicts spending on AI processing semiconductors will increase from $209 billion this year to $268 billion in 2026, up 28 percent year over year.
Global spending on AI application software is expected to reach $172 billion in 2025 and climb to $270 billion in 2026, an annual increase of 57 percent.
AI Infrastructure software global spending will reach $126 billion in 2025 and increase to $230 billion in 2026, up 83 percent annually.
Worldwide AI Spending To Reach $2.02 Trillion In 2026
Worldwide AI spending in IT markets will reach approximately $1.48 trillion in 2025, according to Gartner data.
Global AI spending will increase to $2.02 trillion in 2026, representing an annual increase of 36 percent.
“The AI investment landscape is also expanding beyond traditional U.S. tech giants, including Chinese companies and new AI cloud providers,” said Gartner’s Lovelock. “Furthermore, venture capital investment in AI providers is providing additional tailwinds for AI spending.”
